Summary

Another of the Bridgerton series, though dealing with the predecessors of the Bridgerton clan - I'll admit it was fun seeing Lady Bridgerton (Violet) as a young wife and mother to Anthony, Benedict and the new baby Colin! This one follows Georgiana Bridgerton, who is the sister of Edmond Bridgerton, the father to the clan of Bridgertons。 She branches off and marries Nicholas Rokesby, Edmond's best friend。 So while the premise was sound and about 2/3 of the story interesting and sweet, as seems to happen with nearly all of the couples, once they are married, the drama excitement basically ends。 Sure there was a little conflict with the initial proposal - badly done of Nicholas! But it was wrapped up nicely, and even entertainly when Georgie got to confront her would-be kidnapper and punch him in the nose! I liked the bits around Georgie's fascination with medical studies, since she had so many doctors in her life as a child。 I would have enjoyed it more if she'd fought more for her assistance with Nicholas, even going so far as to join the sessions。 She did, but not very boldly and then she fell victim to the 'female delicacies' by having a breathing attack。 Boo! Let her be there and let her stick up for herself and prove women weren't weak and needy! Anyway, I did enjoy that Nicholas and Georgie didn't really have any marital conflicts and loved that he fully supported her in her interests in his profession! Definitely liked that she was able to assist him and he stuck up for her to patients! Definitely a point in his favor。 Overall a sweet, if staid story that I'm equally glad I read and am done with! 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I thought the story was hilariously funny。 I listened to the audiobook which made it even more amusing。 I did love the banter between Georgie and Nicholas but those cat noises were the best。The plot: Georgina is taken for a carriage ride and kidnapped by a fortune hunter which causes her to be compromised in the eyes of society。 Nicholas is more or less ordered to marry Georgina by his dad, Georgie’s god father。 Spoiler alert:The epilogue, instead of ending with a baby, ended with Georgie and Ni I thought the story was hilariously funny。 I listened to the audiobook which made it even more amusing。 I did love the banter between Georgie and Nicholas but those cat noises were the best。The plot: Georgina is taken for a carriage ride and kidnapped by a fortune hunter which causes her to be compromised in the eyes of society。 Nicholas is more or less ordered to marry Georgina by his dad, Georgie’s god father。 Spoiler alert:The epilogue, instead of ending with a baby, ended with Georgie and Nicolas working together side-by-side。 。。。more

This whole freaking series just reminds me over and over again that despite there being a lot more that needs to be done regarding women's rights, I am so glad I didn't live during an age where my gender limited me。 Ugh, it is just so crazy to me that women had to etch out their own fate by getting a husband。 I had to applaud Georgiana for being so steadfast to her own conscience as well。 There were multiple times during her interactions with Freddie Oakes, the terrible entitled b*stard that I w This whole freaking series just reminds me over and over again that despite there being a lot more that needs to be done regarding women's rights, I am so glad I didn't live during an age where my gender limited me。 Ugh, it is just so crazy to me that women had to etch out their own fate by getting a husband。 I had to applaud Georgiana for being so steadfast to her own conscience as well。 There were multiple times during her interactions with Freddie Oakes, the terrible entitled b*stard that I would've been more than happy to dump him off with broken bones or whatever malady。 However, she remains firm in her rejection and her unwillingness to leave him in dire(ish!) physical straits。 It takes a bigger person to keep their cool like that, full well knowing that this is the man responsible for your ruined reputation which has now affected the rest of your life。 The man is trash。 I enjoyed the element of Nicholas being a virgin as well as Georgiana。 It was refreshing to read two people getting to enjoy their firsts together; it was quite sweet。 A lot of stories make the men feel as if it's their first love/first time - it was nice to read about a man who was experiencing love and lust for the first time with someone completely unexpected。 To be honest however, the plot line felt bland。 The headline and blurb make you think there will be more of a struggle for them to get together。 It does not。 Georgiana's kidnapping happens in the past tense and they decide on getting married within a day or two - again, we'll give credence to the era, but seriously there wasn't really that big of a problem。 The storyline kind of just flatlined into their relationship - the biggest hurdle being them not living together and him taking her side about blood letting。 Maybe those were supposed to be shocking, but they weren't to me。 I enjoyed the characters and reading about them bond, but the plotline started off interesting and ended up just coasting to the end。 。。。more

Dosta lošije od prijašnjih u serijalu。 OK, no nedostatak zanimljivih dijaloga, radnje, malo dosadniji likovi, nepotrebne scene s mačkama i mačke općenito。

This one made me chuckle a few times。 Reminiscent of my favorite Georgette Heyers。

Adorable I love all the Bridgerton books and this is no different Yes it’s a little formulaic in its plot but that doesn’t stop it from being a very fun read。

Don't get me wrong; I loved each and every single one of the Bridgerton books, including the prequel Rokesbys series, but First Comes Scandal missed the mark in comparison。 Big time。 I found the romance aspect incredibly lacking, boring and cold。 Where the other books had me swooning over the heros and heroines and consistently wanting more, I had a hard time actually completing this novel。The "banter" between Georgiana and Nicholas was, for lack of a better word, boring。 While I love Julia Don't get me wrong; I loved each and every single one of the Bridgerton books, including the prequel Rokesbys series, but First Comes Scandal missed the mark in comparison。 Big time。 I found the romance aspect incredibly lacking, boring and cold。 Where the other books had me swooning over the heros and heroines and consistently wanting more, I had a hard time actually completing this novel。The "banter" between Georgiana and Nicholas was, for lack of a better word, boring。 While I love Julia Quinn incorporation of another strong, independent and curious female lead, paired with an encouraging and forward-thinking male partner, this couple is actually my least favourite out of all twelve books。 。。。more

This is the final book in the Rokesby series as it concludes with the youngest Rokesby sibling, Nicholas and his next-door neighbor, Georgiana as she faces ruin because of a kidnapping attempt that left her with the decision to either marry the jerk who kidnapped her or become a ruined spinster。 Well, because the Bridgerton and Rokesby families are next-door neighbors and Georgiana’s parents consult Nicholas’s parents, they hatch a plan to have Nicholas propose to Georgiana and save her reputati This is the final book in the Rokesby series as it concludes with the youngest Rokesby sibling, Nicholas and his next-door neighbor, Georgiana as she faces ruin because of a kidnapping attempt that left her with the decision to either marry the jerk who kidnapped her or become a ruined spinster。 Well, because the Bridgerton and Rokesby families are next-door neighbors and Georgiana’s parents consult Nicholas’s parents, they hatch a plan to have Nicholas propose to Georgiana and save her reputation。 Nicholas does his duty but Georgiana refuses his proposal because she does not want to force Nicholas into a marriage he doesn’t really want。 However, Georgiana finally caves and she and Nicholas return to Scotland where he is studying in Edinburgh to become a doctor。 Together, they work on navigating their marriage of convenience and on the way, they end up falling in love despite both of their reservations on whether they could make the marriage work。 It’s a sweet and semi-steamy marriage of convenience story。 While I do enjoy it, I felt that it was a bit flat compared to the three other stories in the Rokesby series。 I suppose with the middle two, “The Girl With the Make-Believe Husband” and “The Other Miss Bridgerton” being two of my favorite novels of Quinn’s, it’s hard to expect this one to live up to my expectations or somehow be better than those two。 If you’re someone like me and want to save the best for last, I don’t think it matters too much if you read the Rokesby series out of order。 Maybe try reading “Because of Miss Bridgerton” first, then “First Comes Scandal” before reverting to “The Girl With the Make-Believe Husband。” Don’t get me wrong, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book with Georgiana and Nicholas!#HappilyEverAvon #ReadAvon 。。。more

🎧 Listened via Audiobook - 4⭐ - 🌶This was Georgiana, Edmund Bridgerton's little sister, and Nicholas Rokesby's story and the last in the series。 I liked this "friends to lovers" story with a dash of drama in Georgiana's scandal and Nicholas' initial denial and frustration of being expected to marry where parents wished you to be, just like a woman (shockingly, he didn't like it! )。 This one was a bit slow-moving for me, but I enjoyed it regardless。 🎧 Listened via Audiobook - 4⭐ - 🌶This was Georgiana, Edmund Bridgerton's little sister, and Nicholas Rokesby's story and the last in the series。 I liked this "friends to lovers" story with a dash of drama in Georgiana's scandal and Nicholas' initial denial and frustration of being expected to marry where parents wished you to be, just like a woman (shockingly, he didn't like it! )。 This one was a bit slow-moving for me, but I enjoyed it regardless。 。。。more

I felt this was an excellent conclusion to the Rokesby series, with the youngest Bridgerton daughter marrying the youngest Rokesby son。 I liked to read about Nicholas and how he was studying to become a doctor so he could work for a living, which was uncommon since his father was an Earl。 I also enjoyed Georgie's interest in Nicholas's studies, and I believe that should would have made an excellent doctor provided that she had the chance。 One of my favourite parts of the book has to be the brief I felt this was an excellent conclusion to the Rokesby series, with the youngest Bridgerton daughter marrying the youngest Rokesby son。 I liked to read about Nicholas and how he was studying to become a doctor so he could work for a living, which was uncommon since his father was an Earl。 I also enjoyed Georgie's interest in Nicholas's studies, and I believe that should would have made an excellent doctor provided that she had the chance。 One of my favourite parts of the book has to be the brief mentions of Anthony and Benedict Bridgerton as young children。 All in all, I would read this book again and would recommend。 。。。more

Maybe I could have appreciated this more if something of significance actually happened during this novel - unfortunately, that wasn't the case as there was really no plot, the characters were kind of dull, the banter followed Quinn's typical character relationships and as such felt very repetitive, and the whole thing was kind of lacking in chemistry。 At least with this done I can finally put Quinn to rest as I don't have to pick up any more of her novels。 Maybe I could have appreciated this more if something of significance actually happened during this novel - unfortunately, that wasn't the case as there was really no plot, the characters were kind of dull, the banter followed Quinn's typical character relationships and as such felt very repetitive, and the whole thing was kind of lacking in chemistry。 At least with this done I can finally put Quinn to rest as I don't have to pick up any more of her novels。 。。。more

I very rarely rate books 1 star。 When I do, it's because I absolutely hated it。 I didn't hate this, but this has to be one of the laziest stories ever put on paper。There is no plot, no conflict (unless you count ****blocking cats) and the blandest pair of characters imaginable。 Our MCs had no personalities。 They apparently have been friends all their lives, not that one would notice that in the story since it's just stated and that's it。 The chemistry between them is non-existent。 From one momen I very rarely rate books 1 star。 When I do, it's because I absolutely hated it。 I didn't hate this, but this has to be one of the laziest stories ever put on paper。There is no plot, no conflict (unless you count ****blocking cats) and the blandest pair of characters imaginable。 Our MCs had no personalities。 They apparently have been friends all their lives, not that one would notice that in the story since it's just stated and that's it。 The chemistry between them is non-existent。 From one moment to the next without any build-up they are suddenly talking about love。 Where did it come from?
